Apricot Edible Kernel Oil is cold-pressed from the seeds (kernels) of the Prunus armeniaca fruit. Ihis oil is processed to be edible grade, meaning it retains its natural Vitamins A and E, as well as essential fatty acids like Oleic and Linoleic acid, without the use of chemical solvents.
- Rasa (Taste): Madhura (Sweet) with a hint of Tikta (Bitter).
- Guna (Qualities): Snigdha (Oily/Unctuous), Laghu (Light), and Sukshma (Subtle/Penetrating).
- Virya (Potency): Ushna (Heating).
- Dosha Impact: Primarily pacifies Vata (dryness, stiffness) and Kapha (heaviness, stagnation).
Core Ayurvedic Benefits
1. Joint & Bone Health (Asthi-Sandhi Shulahara)
In high-altitude regions, this oil is the primary remedy for "Himalayan Stiffness." Its heating potency and deep penetration make it exceptional for Vata-type joint pain, arthritis, and stiff muscles. It lubricates the joints and helps reduce inflammation.
2. Skin Rejuvenation (Varnya & Ropana)
Because it is rich in Vitamin E, it is a superior Rasayana (rejuvenator) for the skin. It improves skin elasticity, heals cracks, and fades fine lines. Its light texture ensures it doesn't clog pores, making it suitable for even those with a Kapha constitution who usually struggle with heavy oils.
3. Nervous System Grounding (Majja Dhatu)
Apricot kernel oil has a calming effect on the nervous system. Massaging this oil on the soles of the feet (Pada-Abhyanga) or the scalp helps reduce Vata-induced anxiety, restlessness, and insomnia by grounding the body's energy.
4. Digestive Support (Anulomana)
When taken internally (as it is edible grade), it acts as a mild Anulomana (carminative). It helps lubricate the intestinal walls, aiding in the smooth movement of bowels and relieving chronic Vata-type constipation.

Consultant’s Professional Notes & Precautions
- The "Heating" Advantage: This oil is particularly beneficial during Winter or for those living in cold, dry climates, as its Ushna (heating) nature counters the external cold.
- Caution for High Pitta: If you have an extremely hot constitution (frequent skin rashes or intense body heat), use this oil in a 50/50 blend with a cooling oil like Coconut oil.
